Iron Nest Mission 1 Calibration Fire Guide

Mission 1 Calibration Fire: calculate bearing and range from the target coordinates, then hit the single target with HE. Source-checked 2026-08-14.

2026-08-13 Last updated: 2026-08-14

Calibration Fire has one core task: use the coordinates supplied for the designated target to calculate bearing and range from Iron Nest, then fire a high-explosive (HE) shell at that single target. The current source record does not describe a separate traverse/elevation calibration routine, target groups, waves, or a follow-up group, so this guide does not add any of those steps.

At a Glance

  • Verified on build/version: Source-checked 2026-08-14. The cited mission record does not publish a build number, so no version is claimed here.
  • Last checked: 2026-08-14.
  • Fixed rules: One designated target; calculate bearing and range from Iron Nest to the supplied target coordinates; fire HE.
  • Random or run-specific data: The target coordinates are supplied by the mission. Do not treat an example grid as a universal answer.
  • Recommended loadout: HE only; requisition cost: 0.
  • Medal condition: The Ordnance Efficiency Laurel is gold at 1 shot or fewer.

Mission Objective

The Iron Nest DB briefing describes the objective plainly: plot the firing trajectory to the target coordinates and fire an HE shell. Its roster contains one Enemy Target, which is the single mission target for this task. The same record lists the target’s hospital, riot, and city sectors as map entities, but they are not additional mission target groups.

Walkthrough

1. Read the supplied target coordinates

Use the mission briefing and map to identify the target point. Keep the target point separate from nearby civilian or neutral map entities; the objective is the designated target, not a sweep of the surrounding sectors.

2. Calculate bearing and range

From the Iron Nest position, calculate the bearing and range to the target coordinates. The in-mission correction text specifically tells you to review the Iron Nest position and the bearing and range from Iron Nest to the target before firing again after a miss.

3. Load HE and fire at the one target

Load an HE shell and fire at the calculated solution. There is no source-supported second target group or multi-wave clearance step to perform in this mission.

4. If the shot misses, re-check the solution

Review the Iron Nest position, target grid, bearing, and range, then fire again. A correction shot can complete the mission, but it will not meet the one-shot gold threshold.

  • HE: The mission record explicitly orders an HE shell and lists HE as the only recommended shell for its soft target roster.
  • Requisition: The mission record lists 0 requisition.
  • Gold: Ordnance Efficiency Laurel at shots fired ≤ 1. No other medal threshold is asserted here.

Common Failures

  • Using the wrong grid: Re-read the target coordinates before measuring.
  • Measuring from the wrong Iron Nest position: The mission’s miss message specifically calls out the Iron Nest position as a value to review.
  • Confusing nearby map entities with the objective: The source lists other sectors, but the objective is one designated target.
  • Firing more than once while chasing gold: A correction can clear the task, but gold requires one shot or fewer.

Update Log

  • 2026-08-14: Removed the unsupported calibration routine, traverse/elevation sequence, target groups, follow-up group, waves, and invented loadout steps. Rewritten around the coordinate → bearing/range → HE objective and the source-confirmed one-shot medal threshold.
